Tobacco is a deep mustard ochre striped with cream, and the stripes are deliberately uneven: some broad, some only a few threads wide. The chenille has a raised, looped pile, so the edges of the stripes are soft rather than crisp, and the colour looks more golden where the pile catches the light.
It’s at its best on a navy, charcoal or olive sofa, where the yellow does the work. Keep the cushions either side of it plain and textured so the stripe stays the focus.
