Anthracite is a dark, smoky velvet, somewhere between charcoal and bronze-brown, drawn over with hundreds of fine pale lines. The lines fan out and overlap like feathers or the gills of a mushroom, and because they're flocked they sit slightly proud of the pile. As the velvet catches the light the ground shifts from almost black to a warmer brown. Black piping finishes the edge.
It gives a dark scheme some texture without breaking it up. I'd use it on a charcoal or chocolate sofa with plain velvets, or on a pale sofa as the one dark cushion in a group.
