Tobacco is a warm mid brown velvet, cut into strips and appliquéd onto an off-white linen in a maze of angular, interlocking shapes. Each strip is edged with a line of tan stitching, so the pattern has a handmade, slightly folk-art feel, and the velvet sits proud of the flat linen, catching the light along its edges.
It's a good brown for a cream or oatmeal sofa and sits comfortably with rust, camel and olive. I'd pair it with a plain velvet in chocolate or tan.
