Cactus Paisley by Neisha Crosland. Large paisley forms embroidered onto a cream linen in gold and bronze thread, each one outlined in a fine chain stitch and filled with a dense dotted texture, with spiny little stems curling between them.
It is all tone on tone, gold on cream, so the pattern is carried by the texture of the stitching and the shine of the thread rather than by any colour.
Piped and backed in a woven gold.
45 x 45cm square. Corners are tapered, fabric edges are overlocked and there is an invisible zip along the bottom edge. Handmade in my Devon workroom, available with or without a bespoke feather pad.
Only a small number of covers were cut from this length of fabric, so once they have gone they will not be repeated. The same fabric is also made up as a 30 x 60cm oblong.
Embroidery wants plain neighbours. Put this against a heavy linen or a wool, keep the colours around it quiet, and let the light do the rest.
Care: dry clean recommended. Due to the handcrafted nature of the fabric, slight irregularities and shade variations are characteristic and not considered faults. Exact colour matching to previous orders cannot be guaranteed.
