I-Shibori in granite. A printed interpretation of shibori, the Japanese resist dye technique where fabric is folded, bound and twisted before it is dyed so the colour only reaches part of it. Here it reads as fine vertical stripes in charcoal black that break, blur and re-form down the length of the fabric, on a warm off white linen ground.
It behaves like a black and white but never feels stark, because the ground is warm and the stripes are broken rather than solid. It sits as happily with oatmeal linen, oak and rattan as it does in a sharper monochrome scheme, and the vertical run of the pattern lifts a low sofa.
55 x 55cm square. Corners are tapered, fabric edges are overlocked and there is an invisible zip along the bottom edge. Handmade in my Devon workroom, available with or without a feather pad.
Only a small number of covers were cut from this length of fabric, so once they have gone they will not be repeated.
