Jolie Josephine is a velvet jacquard from Misia Paris. On a cotton base the viscose pile weaves an unstructured stripe that suggests animal print without ever quite being one. The pile has a satin sheen against a matt ground, and the weave is very tight, closer to an Indian silk carpet than to an upholstery velvet. Mordore is the warm bronze colourway.
60 x 40cm, handmade in my Devon workroom with tapered corners, overlocked edges and an invisible zip along the bottom edge.
Cut from a limited length of fabric, so very few are made.
A fabric with this much surface interest wants to be seen close up and in changing light. It works on an armchair, at the end of a bed, or as the one piece of texture on a sofa of plain linen.
Care: dry clean recommended. Due to the handcrafted nature of the fabric, slight irregularities and shade variations are characteristic and not considered faults. Exact colour matching to previous orders cannot be guaranteed.
