Mikkel, front and back, contrast piped in lime. A folkloric maze of interlocking lines worked across a cream linen ground in chunky stitch and clipped yarn, the motif raised off the surface in soft gold and taupe so it reads as texture as much as pattern. The look is Scandinavian: geometric, unfussy and warmer than it first appears.
The lime piping is the point of it. Without it this would be a quiet neutral. With it there is a sharp green line round the edge that wakes the whole thing up.
50 x 50cm square, the same fabric on both sides. Corners are tapered, fabric edges are overlocked and there is an invisible zip along the bottom edge. Handmade in my Devon workroom, available with or without a duck feather pad.
Only a small number of covers were cut from this length of fabric, so once they have gone they will not be repeated.
It works on a natural linen sofa where the pattern reads as texture, and it will happily take a lime, ochre or olive elsewhere in the room without competing.
