Le Train Bleu is an Italian made velvet by Misia Paris that imitates astrakhan, the tight curl of lambswool it takes its name from. Dense, soft and slightly irregular, it is the sort of fabric people reach out and touch without deciding to.
30 x 40cm, handmade in my Devon workroom with tapered corners, overlocked edges and an invisible zip along the bottom edge.
Cut from a limited length of fabric, so very few are made.
A velvet this heavy earns its place on a plain sofa in winter. Pair it with linen rather than more velvet, so the texture has something flat to work against.
Care: dry clean recommended. Due to the handcrafted nature of the fabric, slight irregularities and shade variations are characteristic and not considered faults. Exact colour matching to previous orders cannot be guaranteed.
