Niumi is a printed velvet from Black Edition, an inky abstract floral with a watercolour bleed and sudden bursts of colour against a pale ground. It looks painted rather than printed, and the velvet pile gives the darker marks real depth.
Available as a 45 x 45cm square and a 40 x 60cm rectangle, handmade in my Devon workroom with tapered corners, overlocked edges and an invisible zip along the bottom edge.
Cut from a limited length of fabric, so very few are made.
An abstract this loose is far easier to live with than a formal floral, and it sits happily against plain velvet or linen. Let it be the only pattern in the group.
Composition: 66% cotton, 31% viscose, 3% polyester. Pile 50% viscose, 50% cotton.
