Peintures de Paix is a viscose and cotton velvet made in Italy by Misia Paris, and it takes an unusual amount of work to produce. The velvet is spray dyed, then digitally printed, then cut using Misia's Shearing Green Design technique, which is what gives it those alternating matt and shining passages across the surface. Soft, silky and quietly complicated. Mordore is the warm bronze colourway.
30 x 40cm, handmade in my Devon workroom with tapered corners, overlocked edges and an invisible zip along the bottom edge.
Cut from a limited length of fabric, so very few are made.
The matt and shine only show properly in daylight or lamplight, so this is a cushion for a chair near a window or beside a lamp rather than one lost in the middle of a sofa.
Care: dry clean recommended. Due to the handcrafted nature of the fabric, slight irregularities and shade variations are characteristic and not considered faults. Exact colour matching to previous orders cannot be guaranteed.
