Rows of willow leaves in chartreuse, pale grey and soft aqua, each one cut across by a short dark brush stroke and drawn loosely enough that you can see the mark of the hand in it. The linen shows through between the leaves, so the print looks painted onto the fabric rather than laid over it.

Piped and backed in Burgos fern, a plain green that grounds the chartreuse.
40 x 50cm rectangle. Corners are tapered, fabric edges are overlocked and there is an invisible zip along the bottom edge. Handmade in my Devon workroom, available with or without a feather pad.

Chartreuse is a difficult colour used badly and the best colour in the room used well. Keep what sits beside it plain, in cream, stone or a deeper green, and let this one be the pattern.
