Ritz Velvet Cushion – Wood

Wood is a soft mid brown, somewhere between milk chocolate and mushroom. It's a cotton velvet with a short, dense pile, so the colour moves with the light: a little greyer from the side, warmer and closer to toffee where the light hits it full on. The Iris piping in fawn is a shade paler than the velvet, so the edge gets a quiet outline rather than a contrast.

This is the plain that holds the rest of the collection together. I'd put it next to Swing in Tobacco, which has the same brown in its embroidery, or use it to give some weight to paler, textured cushions such as Ripple. On a cream, stone or oatmeal sofa it reads warm without tipping into orange.
